H&H Baby Namings - Naming and Welcoming Ceremonies in Gloucestershire & Bristol
Naming ceremonies provide a great opportunity to celebrate becoming -  or expanding - a family.

In formally welcoming your child to the world, you share the joy of their arrival with family and friends.

Philippa Howell and Hannah Hart are Gloucestershire-based  celebrants trained and accredited by the British Humanist Association. We both take naming and wedding ceremonies.

Our ceremonies are humanist and so non-religious and inclusive.  They are happy and hopeful occasions, carefully designed to be meaningful and relevant for everyone attending, regardless of their beliefs.

By holding a naming ceremony you get the chance to stand back from the day-to-day tasks involved in parenting and to instead focus  on the bigger picture; celebrating your child's arrival, publicly committing yourself to your child, reflecting on your responsibilities as a parent and sharing your hopes and dreams for the future.

Ceremonies are tailor-made to meet the needs of each individual family and may include music, poetry and readings.  We promise that your ceremony will be as unique as your child!

Namings ceremonies can be:

  • Big or small – one hundred guests or just a few.  Whatever you choose.

  • Formal or relaxed – We will create the right atmosphere with a personally-written script that is written in accordance with your needs and wishes.

  • At your home or at a venue – again, the choice is yours.  During the summer, many ceremonies are planned for back gardens (though there's always a back-up plan!)  Many ceremonies are followed by a party or celebratory meal.

  • Not just for babies – ceremonies can be devised for all aged children, not just newborns. Parents of adopted children often chose a welcoming ceremony to mark their child's arrival, and they also work well to mark the creation of a 'blended' family.
